What Is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese word commonly translated to mean ‘Universal life energy’. The energy is around us, within us and all living things. Reiki is administered by a Reiki practitioner gently placing their hands on the body. Reiki flows through the physical body, can balance emotions and mental state, and can also create a sense of spiritual wellbeing.

Learning Reiki

A Reiki I class is the starting point for learning how to use Reiki to treat yourself and others. The beauty of this simple technique is that anyone can learn to practice Reiki, and everyone is capable of doing it.

The traditional healing art of Reiki is taught by a Reiki Master. As a Reiki Master since 2003, Georgina has taught Reiki students from a variety of ages and stages of life; building together a supportive community from the beginner to the experienced.

People choose to learn Reiki for many different reasons, most often because it simply feels ‘right’ at that time in their life. The possibility of opening your life to Reiki is the gift of a lifetime.

What Is Reiki Supposed To Do?

The technique is gentle yet powerful. A Reiki treatment supports the whole person — physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

When a Reiki practitioner places his/her hands on an area of their own or another person's clothed body, Reiki flows through the practitioner into the person receiving the treatment. The energy flows to wherever it is needed in the body and there is often a profound feeling of wellbeing for the recipient as well as for the practitioner. Anyone can learn to practise Reiki and after taking a Reiki level I course, you can use Reiki to treat yourself and others.

Reiki Classes

The Reiki level I course (sometimes called First Degree) takes 12 hours, spread over 2-4 days. The course teaches the series of hand positions for self-treatment and covers how to give Reiki treatments to others.

Within the class, a student receives the initiations, listens to the history of Reiki and begins to discover ways to use Reiki in their daily lives.

During the course, students will practice giving treatments to each other and at the end of the course all students will receive a certificate of attendance.

The Reiki level II course (sometimes called Second Degree) is given to students who have felt the calling to go further into the practice.  This comes with a year or more of practice after the First Degree class.
